Lucid Motors has embarked on public road testing for its eagerly anticipated Gravity SUV, set to be unveiled this November. The company asserts that Gravity will deliver both the spirited driving dynamics of a sports car and a superior electric range compared to current EV SUV offerings.

After teasing the Gravity SUV in late 2022, Lucid Motors has taken significant strides toward its realization, initiating testing on American roads. Recent images showcase the SUV under space-themed camouflage, adding an air of intrigue to its impending arrival.

Just a few words about Lucid Motors
Lucid Motors has its roots dating back to 2007 when it was founded as Atieva. Initially, the company's primary focus was on advancing electric vehicle battery technology. Over time, a natural evolution occurred, leading them to shift their focus towards crafting their own line of opulent electric vehicles.

Fast forward to 2016, and Atieva underwent a rebranding, adopting the name Lucid Motors. This transformation signified their dedication to pioneering a fresh era of high-performance electric automobiles. Their philosophy revolved around the fusion of cutting-edge technology, remarkable driving dynamics, and a touch of refined luxury.

The pivotal moment arrived in 2020 when Lucid unveiled their inaugural production model, the Lucid Air. This groundbreaking vehicle drew widespread attention thanks to its impressive specifications, boasting an estimated range exceeding 500 miles and showcasing remarkable performance metrics. This introduction underscored Lucid's resolute commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle capabilities.

The tangible manifestation of Lucid's aspirations materialized in the form of their manufacturing facility, aptly named "Lucid AMP-1," situated in Casa Grande, Arizona. Commencing operations in 2021, this facility became the birthplace of Lucid Air. Notably, Lucid's dedication to environmental consciousness and sustainable practices is deeply embedded in its manufacturing processes.

Emerging as a dynamic contender in the electric vehicle realm, Lucid Motors is intent on challenging conventional norms and solidifying its position as a commanding force in the luxury EV sector. By blending pioneering technology, extraordinary performance attributes, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability, Lucid Motors is actively shaping the trajectory of electric mobility.

As revealed in its recent second-quarter financial report, Lucid Motors confirmed plans to debut the Gravity SUV in November, targeting production commencement in 2024.
Considering the Air sedan's exceptional performance metrics, including its EPA-estimated longest range among electric vehicles, it's likely that the larger and heavier SUV configuration will inevitably impact range figures. However, if the Gravity SUV follows in the footsteps of Lucid's initial offering, it promises to deliver a compelling package.
While specifics about the forthcoming SUV remain somewhat elusive, we do know that it will accommodate up to seven passengers and incorporate an enhanced iteration of the Glass Cockpit, featuring an updated Lucid UX operating system. Lucid Motors is asserting that the Gravity SUV will deliver driving dynamics akin to sports cars, along with an electric driving range surpassing that of existing EV SUVs.

Though concrete performance data remains pending, we anticipate that the Gravity SUV will mirror the powertrain options found in the Air sedan. This encompasses a spectrum spanning from 480 horsepower to an impressive 1050 horsepower in the Grand Touring Performance variant.

Lucid Motors hinted at a timeline last year, indicating that the Lucid Gravity configurator and order books will open sometime in 2023, with production slated for commencement in 2024.
