What are dos & don'ts after doing surgery for fissures? Usually for surgery for fissures, it is done in two ways. We do what is called is LIS - Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy. We cut a part of the sphincters to relax the sphincters so that the fissure is healed. Fissure is a cut so that has to heal because the sphincters are tight so it will not allow it to heal. So we cut the sphincters to an extent to make it relax or we stretch the sphincter. We have a different method where without damaging the sphincter we stretch the sphincters to make it loose so that the motion comes out easily and allows the fissure to heal. Then sometimes we add some other procedures if it is chronic fissures, lot of fibrous tissue or if there are sentinel tags which are causing infection and all we may have to remove. Once the procedure is done, what things should be avoided? To know in detail, watch the video.
