"Women Manipulate Men" 🤔 | I WAS HER #lovesamanthalee #IWASHER #samanthalee Manipulation is more common than you might think. We all have probably manipulated someone at some point, whether intentionally or unintentionally. In this video, I'm going to break down the most common ways people try to manipulate others. First, let's define manipulation. Manipulation is when someone tries to influence or control someone else in an unfair way, for their own gain. Some examples of manipulation tactics include guilt trips, gaslighting, lying or exaggerating, using emotions against someone, coercing, and playing the victim. Guilt trips are when someone tries to make you feel guilty or ashamed in order to get you to do what they want. For example, "If you loved me, you would do this for me." Gaslighting is making someone question their own reality or memories. A gaslighter might say "I never said that" when they definitely did say something. Lying or exaggerating is deceiving someone about facts. Manipulators often lie or exaggerate reality to make themselves look better. Emotional manipulation is using emotions in a calculating manner. For instance, trying to evoke pity from someone to get assistance. Coercion is using threats or intimidation to control someone. And playing the victim is exaggerating harm that has been done to take advantage of another person's sympathy. The scary thing about manipulation is that it's sometimes hard to detect. Manipulators are skilled at getting what they want while keeping their tactics under wraps. Their actions usually serve themselves while minimizing, disrespecting, or even harming others. The best way to combat manipulation is through awareness, setting boundaries, and being assertive. Know the common tactics manipulators use so you can recognize the signs. Set clear boundaries about what behavior you will and will not accept from others. And don't be afraid to stand up for yourself if someone is treating you unfairly. With knowledge and courage, we can help stop interpersonal manipulation.
