Online, it is often hard to tell information from misinformation. Enter the public intellectual, an academic who engages with the media and translates scholarly work for the masses. In this informative talk, Erica Stone argues that our universities have a duty to engage with the public.


Erica M. Stone is a doctoral student in the Technical Communication and Rhetoric program at Texas Tech University. Her research centers on the flow of information, social media’s role in identity development, and the intellectual’s role in history and popular culture. She envisions a world where the ivory towers of academia open their walls to the public.
