An army colonel, a major and three other security personnel laid down their lives fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara. The encounter which began on Saturday after armed forces received input about the presence of militants in a forest area ended after an army unit stormed into the house in which the two militants were holed up. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes, reminding the nation that sacrifices of the forces will never be forgotten. As the nation mourned the Handwara sacrifice, armed forces paid floral tribute to the Covid-19 warriors across the country.
