Hey every one Tyler Wood Bushcraft here today i have a special video for you. This isnt a normal type of video i do where im home bound but figured this is a great way to show you how i build a bushcraft quinzee. I go in to all the steps to show you how to safely build a quinzee (snow fort) (Igloo)
The snow was very heavy and wet which makes for a good building element. This whole process took around 9 hours or more some people recommend letting the quinzee sit for a day or two to settle before carving it out. I used my cold steel special forces shovel to hollow out the inside. Temperatures were freezing 5 degrees Fahrenheit on the outside of the hut but once inside it felt so much warmer. I would have to guess it was roughly 35 to 35 degrees inside the quinzee. I did a overnighter in it and was very surprise how warm i felt inside. I did have a sleeping pad which is my kelty sleeping pad and my teton Sleeping bag mummy style. I brought a candle inside for lighting as i did not bring any other source of lighting. The candle was multi purpose as it gave off very little heat and it lite up the shelter. The biggest was that it created ice on the roof strengthening the structure of the shelter.
