Best Fight Scenes: Hiroyuki Sanada |
|
This Japanese martial artist not only has an intimate background in Shorinji Kempo and Kyokushin Karate with training under Sonny Chiba, but also is an adept actor having appeared in theater productions as well as both Japanese and American films/television series. Besides being the go-to samurai guy including notable film roles in “The Twilight Samurai”, “The Last Samurai”, and “47 Ronin”, he has also appeared as the ship captain in the sci-fi thriller “Sunshine”, a university professor in the J-Horror classic “Ring” (original Japanese adaptation), and even a character in the hit ABC TV series “Lost”. Sanada’s filmography has allowed him to cross paths with Hong Kong action legends such as Michelle Yeoh in the aforementioned “Sunshine” and "Royal Warriors", Jackie Chan in “Rush Hour 3”, and Nicholas Tse in “The Promise”. Among other A-list actors, he’s worked with Ralph Fiennes in “The White Countess”, Anthony Hopkins in “The City of Your Final Destination”, and of course, Hugh Jackman in “The Wolverine”. Though one of his earliest films was the 1982 HK martial arts movie “Ninja in the Dragon’s Den”. He is also set to appear in an unspecified role in the untitled 2019 sequel to “Avengers: Infinity War”. So here are my favorite Hiroyuki Sanada fight scenes.
