An ongoing outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, started in December 2019. It was first identified in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei, China. As of 27 February 2020, 82,167 cases have been confirmed, including in all provinces of China and nearly fifty other countries. Of these, 8,469 cases were classified as serious. There have been 2,801 deaths attributable to the disease, including 57 outside mainland China, surpassing that of the 2003 SARS outbreak. However, more than 32,000 people have since recovered.
In this video series we're covering everything about viruses including the ever-present Coronavirus otherwise known today as COVID-19. We hope you’re well and are practicing good habits to prevent this and other infections. Part of putting this series together we hope to inspire those young geniuses to take on this mission to secure human health for the future trials we’ll inevitably encounter. The news has a lot of information, but not many of them get down to the nuts and bolts of how this and many other infections wage their damage. We hope this in some way helps shed light on this subject. We’re praying for everyone affected and thanks to everyone who are doing the right thing.
