Changing the world by saving lives | Eric Owen | TEDxTraverseCity |
|
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Inspired by his search to help find a kidney match for his friend Mandy, Eric Owen wants to put an end to the waiting list for people who need an organ transplant. He encourages viewers to register as organ donors, and has created the Life Drive event with this vision.
Eric Owen is the founder of Life Drive, an event focused on saving lives via blood, tissue and organ donations. Eric is a full-time student at Northwestern Michigan College majoring in business. In addition to his academic endeavors, he devotes a great deal of his time towards participating in local, national, and global charitable events. The satisfaction of participating in these endeavors led to the culmination of him creating and directing Life Drive, an event focused on saving lives by encouraging others to donate blood, tissues, and organs. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) |
