It is official that James "Mandingo Warrior" Kirkland(32-1 28kos) will face Saul Canelo Alvaraez(44-1-1 31kos) on HBO in the summer of 2015. Canelo has long expressed interest in fighting on the Mexican holiday Cinco De Mayo but Floyd Mayweather has occupied that date. If Mayweather vs Pacquiao does no happen on May 2, 2015 you can surely expect to see Canelo vs Kirkland 5/2/15.

It is official that Golden Boy Promotions Saul Canelo Alvarez has signed an exclusive long-term deal with HBO as of September 23, 2014.

Hall Of Fame boxer Oscar "The Golden Boy" De La Hoya was in Philadelphia on September 2, 2014 promoting Bernard Hopkins vs Sergey Kovalv set for November 8, 2014. Oscar answered a few questions for TstreeT in regards to potential matchups for Saul Canelo Alvarez(44-1-1 31kos). Joshua Clottey(38-4 22kos) is rumored to be the heavy favorite. De La Hoya also mentions WBO 154lb Jr. Middleweight Champion Demitrius "Boo Boo" Andrade(21-0 14kos), and James "Mandingo Warrior" Kirkland(32-1 28kos) as potential opponents for Canelo in the Winter of 2014. Oscar also speaks the resumes of Bernard "The Alien" Hopkins and Floyd "Money" Mayweather(46-0 26kos).

Shocking rumors are surfacing that Golden Boy Promotions & Showtime's Saul Canelo Alvarez(44-1-1 31kos) may face well known veteran Joshua "Grand Master" Clottey(38-4 22kos) December 13, 2014. The shocking news is that HBO may broadcast the bout. Clottey is the WBA interim champion after defeating Australia's Anthony Mundine in April of 2014. If the fight happens the winner will be the #1 Contender for Mayweather's 154lb WBA title. Canelo is suppose to have 1 fight remaining on his 3 fight Showtime PPV deal.

Erislandy "The American Dream" Lara is set to return in November or December of 2014. An opponent is not yet known.

Miguel Cotto(39-4 32kos) is thee recognized lineal WBC 160lb Middleweight Champion. Many fans feel that Cotto's reign at 160lbs will not entail him facing the best 160lb fighters at the full weight of 160lbs. Cotto is set to return in the Winter of 2014 maybe at 154lbs and on HBO Championship Boxing not HBO Pay Per View. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez(44-1-1 31kos) is also set to return in the winter as well but a bout with Cotto has been ruled out until atleast 2015.

Saul Canelo Alvarez(44-1-1 31kos) scored a split decision victory over Erislandy Lara(19-2-2 12kos) on July 12, 2014 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on Showtime Pay Per View. The judges scored the fight 115-113 Lara, 115,113, and 117-111 for Canelo. Lara started strong but slowed late and was cut in the 7th round.

It is July 11, 2014 just one day shy of what could be the most meaningful fight of 2014. Saul Canelo Alvarez(43-1-1 31kos) weighs in at 155lbs and his opponent Erislandy "The American Dream" Lara(19-1-2 12kos) weighs in at the 155lb catchweight limit. Many fans were concerned for Alvarez after photos showed a seemingly gaunt Alvarez arriving in Vegas this fight week.

Canelo has shown vast improvement since his lopsided defeat to Floyd "Money" Mayweather (46-0 26kos) in September of 2013. Lara was scheduled to face journeymen and former IBF Champion Ishe "Sugar Shay" Smith (26-6 12kos) on May 2, 2014 but Lara dropped out after Alvarez demanded that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer make Lara his next PPV bout. Canelo says if the bout were for a real title he would have no problem making 154lbs.
