PETALING JAYA: Non-Stop heavy rain for two days straight has turned a few states in West Malaysia into flooded areas.

According to Public Infobanjir website, 6 states - Pahang, Selangor, Kelantan, Perak, Terengganu and Melaka - had exceeded ‘Danger’ water level while Kuala Lumpur, Johor, negeri Sembilan, and Sarawak exceeded ‘Alert’ water level.

Malaysians who were affected by the flood saw their homes submerged in the water and some were stuck in their cars on the road for hours.

Director of Selangor State JBPM, YS PKPjB Norazam bin Khamis said that the Fire and rescue department had started to transfer people in Klang to shelter since friday when they received calls.

“We started our mission on Friday and on Saturday we received a high number of incoming calls and we couldn't answer people all at once,” Norazam told theSundaily.

“We send all of our squad to help those who are affected as soon as we can, especially in Hulu Langat and Shah Alam districts” Norazam added.

People in Hulu Langat district were seen taking their shelter on the roof of Surau Al Munir, Taman Sri nanding for several hours before help arrived to rescue them.

Head of Kampung Batu 12, Puchong village, Abd Rashid Abd Shukor said that his area was affected badly by the flood. At 10.00 P.M. on Saturday, he and a few other head of village decided to open Sekolah Kebangsaan Puchong Indah to turn into a shelter.

600 people from five villages were transferred to the school using multiple four-wheel drives and 3 boats. The rescue mission took them hours up until 6.00 A.M.

“We received multiple calls to rescue them and said the water level had reached the roof of their house and we went straight away, we even received calls from outside my area and we helped as many as we can” said Rashid.

“Few NGOs help us by aiding food supply, after the flood waters receded, few families began to go back and check their homes” added Rashid.

Arif Mirza who was on his way back home in Klang from Subang Jaya was stuck in traffic for hours and had to sleep in his car until the situation ease a bit.
“I was on the Federal Highway from subang Jaya around 6.30 P.M. and the traffic was not moving and I saw other cars were heading towards the nearest petrol pump to refill their car petrol” said Arif.

“I drove my car to the petrol pump to do the same thing and when exiting the petrol pump, i use alternative road that leads to Batu Tiga”

“Batu Tiga exit was closed at the time i arrived because the flood water level had reached to car window level and i decided to go back on the Federal Highway to enter Glenmarie exit and as i reached Seksyen 13 Shah Alam, all cars had stop moving and there was a flood in front of us”

“Since 11.00 P.M. i saw people getting out of their cars to see the situation and we decided to spend the night on the road until the water level reaches safe to drive”

“I safely arrive home after a difficult road to take after 15 hours on the road”

Malaysians are expected to brace heavy rains for a few days more.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecast on their website, heavy rain trends will continue until 22nd December in a few states in West Malaysia.
