The Porsche 911, also known as the Neunelfer or just the Elfer for short, is Porsche's most famous sports car and is considered the epitome of the brand. The latest 992 model series has been available since 2019. The first 911 was unveiled on September 12, 1963, at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) as the successor to the Porsche 356, with the designation Porsche 901. However, three-digit numbers with a zero in the middle were protected for Peugeot as a type designation, so the car was launched in 1964 as the Porsche 911.
