video thumbnail
How well do we protect our online lives? In a world where cybercrime flourishes, we need to be informed and alert internet users. In his talk, George Balafoutis, who leads the Worldwide Cybersecurity Champion Program at Microsoft, takes us through the various types of cyber crime and explains why and how this affects every single one of us. He showcases how this is an issue that goes beyond big corporations and governments; it's one that affects whoever holds an email or social media account. Through examples and facts, he invites us to stop, think and then click.

An expert in cybersecurity, George Balafoutis works for Microsoft’s Global Cybersecurity Practice as a Cybersecurity Architect. He leads the company’s Worldwide Cybersecurity Champion program, which numbers approximately 150 cybersecurity champions throughout the world. Prior to Microsoft, George worked for several years at Trustwave, the leading credit card security company, where his responsibilities continuously expanded, always focusing on Fortune 500 companies. George holds an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, MSc in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University, and BSc in Mathematics from the National University of Athens. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
