Zheng He, an eunuch first set sail in 1405, commanding astonishing number of 62 ships and 27,800 men. The grand fleet visited Champa, Siam, Malacca, the island of Java and then through the Indian Ocean to Calicut in Sri Lanka. After 2 years of glorious trip he returned to China. The emperor was so satisfied of zheng's voyage that he ordered the next ones. For almost 30 years, zheng he spent the time with the asian seas, making an even rivarly to the future european explorers, and visiting the holy site of his father, the great city of mecca.
