The 9th Annual Betty Ann and Wade Heggie Lecture in Integrative Medicine was presented by Dr. Amelia Villagomez on June 17, 2016 at the 31st Annual Alumni Reunion Conference, Highlights in Medicine.
Titled, “Current and Emerging Evidence Based Developments in Integrative Psychiatry,” Dr. Villagomez described the evidence demonstrating the effect of nutrition on various mental health conditions, and identified the use of selected herbs, vitamins, medical foods, and lifestyle modifications as they relate to mental health conditions. Dr. Amelia Villagomez is a psychiatrist and Clinical Assistant Professor in both the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona and in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She received her medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center, College of Medicine, and completed her psychiatric residency at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Villagomez also did a fellowship in child psychiatry at Harvard University, and a fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona. |
