Marking One Year Since Russia Invaded Ukraine

video thumbnail
Today marks one year since Russia invaded Ukraine, and there are no signs of the fighting slowing down. To mark the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid tribute to all those who have died since the war began.

Meanwhile, there were fireworks in Russia's capital, Moscow, to mark what they're calling 'Defender of the Fatherland' day. Some people are worried that the anniversary will be used to increase the fighting. Lots of countries around the world have shown their support for Ukraine, and Australia has announced another $33 million in military aid.

UKRAINE KIDS
Now, let's catch up with Nazar and Taras who made South Australia their home last year after fleeing the conflict. We caught up with Nazar and Taras earlier last year when they told us their story of moving from Ukraine to Australia. Since then, they've been getting great support at their new school. And of course, soccer is still their favourite sport! But they've had to adjust to some of Australia's hot weather. So, with the war having started a year ago now - how are they feeling? They've been keeping in touch with family and friends back home.

CRICKET
In cricket, Australia has made it to the Women's T20 World Cup final by beating India by 5 runs. They'll face off against the winner of tonight's semi-final between England and hosts South Africa.

MARDI GRAS
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is on tomorrow night, and more than 200 floats will be making their way along Oxford street. This year's parade is expected to be bigger than ever as the city is currently hosting world pride. It's also the 45th anniversary of the very first Mardi Gras which happened in 1978.

HARRY STYLES LINE
In Melbourne, people have been waiting in long lines, some even overnight, to get a good spot at the Harry Styles concert happening tonight. Some fans have even brought along blankets and snacks, while others had to travel far to be there.
