The hidden intentions behind India Partition (1947) | Guneeta Singh Bhalla | TEDxMACE |
|
A visionary and patriot, she has single-handedly pulled out that piece of history, gruesome and hence overlooked quite often, but yet, very critical to the foundation of India as a nation. In her talk she challenges the popular misconception that Partition violence was about neighbors killing neighbors. Rather, it was, in fact, an economically driven fiasco where religion only played a minor role. From being a condensed matter physicist who was a post-doctoral researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California at Berkeley, to founding the '1947 Partition Archive', and being a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council, Guneeta Singh Bhalla's journey has been quite unorthodox. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
