One story, one line | Tamar Levi & Kalliopi Bolovinou | TEDxULB

video thumbnail
Award-winning artist Tamar Levi and award-winning flautist Kalliopi Bolovinou combine live art and classical music to bring a unique children's story to life all in one painted line.
Underlying themes of the work include childlike wonder, the tools for processing bereavement, mythology, feminism and travel; all scored by a special chronological musical journey from historical classical compositions to a modern crescendo. "Alaskan raised, Cornish-Jewish, Brussels based author and illustrator Tamar Levi has spent her life between desk, bookshelf and easel.
Beginning by writing and illustrating whilst studying Philosophy and Educational Psychology in London and Cambridge, Tamar also consulted for a leading multinational company. She's now come full circle, back to where she belongs, writing and painting again. Her wildly popular artworks are described as virtuosic and dynamic. She has published award-winning books (as editor, co-author or illustrator) that are designed to be used in classrooms and homes, with teaching guidelines and lesson plans as well as educational tools for families. Alongside the sell-out art shows and award-winning illustrated books, She has tutored and taught children (ages 6-18) Art and Psychology in London and Athens, in schools and homes, and provided exciting live art performances in the continuous line method."

"Award winning Greek flautist Kalliopi Bolovinou studied flute, piccolo and Musicology in Greece, Belgium and France. Before training as a music pedagogue at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and at the Dalcroze Institut of Brussels and teaching at the International School of Brussels,
she worked as an orchestral musician and soloist, collaborated with many composers and ensembles, notably the French ensemble “Multilatérale."" Kalliopi founded “Kaleidoscope"" to create interdisciplinary music and art performances for young audience in Belgium
" This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
