Will Pakistan achieve their first victory on the tour? Tune in at 4:30 AM IST and 12 PM Local Time for the 5th T20I’s live coverage! Match Timings: 5:30 AM IST and 1 PM Local Time New Zealand (Probable XI): Finn Allen, Tim Seifert (wk), Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mitchell Santner (c), Adam Milne, Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson Pakistan (Probable XI): Saim Ayub, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi (c), Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan Pakistan would look to end a difficult five-match T20I series against New Zealand on a high, when the two teams face-off on Sunday (January 21) at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Pakistan ‘aiming a consolation win’ after four consecutive defeats and New Zealand ‘eyeing another great display’ may just be cliches, but they certainly are true. The visitors would be desperate to avoid a 5-0 scoreline. New Zealand, on the other hand, would be keen to sustain their winning momentum and pound Pakistan into the ground. After failing to overcome the challenge from Tim Southee & Co. in the opening three T20Is, Pakistan were once again derailed by New Zealand’s attack, who restricted the Shaheen Afridi-led team to 158/5 in the fourth T20I, in Christchurch. In a nutshell, New Zealand's bowlers were impressive as ever - skipper Mitchell Santner was economical while Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson grabbed a couple of wickets each. The target was under par, and a stupendous 93-ball 139-run unbroken stand between Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips was enough to seal the penultimate T20I in the home team’s favour. New Zealand were in trouble when they were reduced to 20/3, courtesy Shaheen’s three-wicket haul, but Pakistan couldn’t capitalize on it. Mitchell and Phillips began by running hard, and then gave the loose balls the deserved punishment. The former was dropped twice, and he made the most of it. A win by seven wickets and an unassailable 4-0 lead in the series was the end result. |
