Squats vs. Leg Press (Which is better?) |

SQUATS VS. LEG PRESS
Which is better, squats or leg press? Research has shown that squats elicit greater quadricep and hamstring activity compared to the leg press. However, neither should be viewed as a primary hamstring exercise since they elicit about half the hamstring activation of exercises such as leg curls and stiff leg deadlifts. As for glutes, research shows similar glute activation between both exercises but both still underperform hip thrusts in terms of overall muscle activation. Squats have been shown to have better carryover to athletic performance resulting in greater increases in vertical jump and sprint speed. Additionally, squats are a more functional exercise in that they have more transfer to performance in everyday activities. Overall, both exercises have been shown to be effective for building muscle and strength in the lower body. Although squats may be slightly superior based on research, leg press provides more stability which may be a safer option for those who struggle with squats for any reason. Lastly, whether you perform squats, leg press, or both, the most important component that will determine your results is progressive overload. 🔥Let me simplify your fitness journey with a custom diet and training program for less than $1 per day! 👉 https://www.apfau.com/ Follow me on: IG: https://www.instagram.com/apfau TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@adampfau Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PfauFitness #squats #barbellsquats #legpress #legpressmachine #squatsvslegpress #legexercises #quadworkout #legday #hamstrings #hamstringexercise #quadexercises #gluteexercises |
