DJ ENVY DISPUTES BOW WOW’S ‘TRASH’ HIP HOP CLAIMS: ‘WE’RE JUST CONSUMING SO MUCH MUSIC’.DJ Envy has chimed in on the conversation surrounding why Hip Hop is yet to land a No. 1 album or single this year, disagreeing with Bow Wow‘s argument the reason is the music is garbage.
TMZ caught up with The Breakfast Club host on Wednesday (June 28) at LAX and asked him about the former So So Def rapper’s comments. In his opinion, it’s not the quality of music but the quantity that’s the issue.
He also listed several rappers that have been making waves in the last few years, like Young Nudy and Toosii. Additionally, he highlighted seasoned artists like 21 Savage and Drake.
“I think it’s just a matter of time,” he said. “I just think that we’re just consuming so much music now, and it’s kinda hard for music to stick. Usually, we had music [and] we’d rock for a whole summer or couple of months. But now it seems we’re turning music over too fast.”
