Democracy beyond voting | Jonathan Pelto | TEDxCCSU |
|
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Jonathon Pelto challenges us to do the right thing, not to do the politically expedient thing on the topic of civic responsibility.
Jonathan Pelto is an advocacy journalist and leading activist in the battle to push back the corporate education reform industry and take back control of the nation's system of public education. His blog, Wait, What? has become the most read commentary site in Connecticut with over 1.5 million visitors and more than 20,000 comments since he began blogging in 2011. Pelto is also a write-in candidate for governor in this year's Connecticut gubernatorial election. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) |
