Actress Soundarya made her debut in Kollywood with Ponnumani, featuring Karthik. She had played with almost all the top heroes in Tamil including Rajini, Kamal, Vijayakanth and Parthipan. After playing with Rajini in Arunachalam and Padaiyappa, Soundarya’s popularity rose.

While she was campaigning for BJP in 2004, pregnant Soundarya traveled in a helicopter. The helicopter crashed to the ground and caught fire. Soundarya’s death saddened everyone. Even after a decade, Soundarya is still in the hearts of the audiences.
