Synopsis

Adam, the son of a fisherman, is offered the ultimate privilege to study at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the epicenter of power of Sunni Islam. Shortly after his arrival in Cairo the university’s highest ranking religious leader, the Grand Imam, suddenly dies and Adam soon becomes a pawn in a ruthless power struggle between Eqypt's religious and political elite.
On the first day back after the summer holidays, the grand imam collapses and dies in front of his students in a prestigious university in Cairo. This marks the start of a ruthless battle for influence to take his place.
Adam, um simples filho de pescador, junta-se à prestigiosa Universidade Al-Azhar no Cairo, o epicentro do poder no Islão sunita. No primeiro dia de aulas, o Grande Imã à frente da instituição morre subitamente. Sem o saber, Adam encontra-se no centro de uma luta de poder implacável entre as elites religiosas e políticas do país.
