Robin Chaurasiya, born in Los Angeles and served with US Air force came back to India and set up the NGO, Kranti which acts as a school for daughters of sex workers from Mumbai’s Kamathipura area. She was short listed as one of the 10 top finalists for Global Teacher Prize. She redefines the importance of a teacher. She emphasizes about how education and skill development can help in liberation of the socially oppressed people. Oppression can be overcome by empowerment and by equipping them with the required knowledge to face the world. At Kranti, they hold seminars and teaching sessions where students are taught how to deliver speeches, play different instruments and are taught writing skills.
She is the founder of the NGO Kranti, a school for daughters of sex workers in Mumbai’s Kamathipura area. She was shortlisted as one of the top-10 finalists for global teaching prize- A nobel prize for teaching.
