How You Are Killing Your Dreams (Self Talk) | Basit Rashid | TEDxYouth@Glasgow

video thumbnail
Do you ever feel like there is something holding you back from being everything you could be? In this TED Talk, you will learn how to stop negative self talk and overcome limiting beliefs, allowing you to step outside your comfort zone. First you will become conscious of the thoughts and stories you repeat to yourself. They are either holding you back or propelling you towards your dreams. Once you have tackled your self talk, you can then deal with your limiting beliefs. These limiting beliefs go unnoticed, yet they influence everything we do. They deny you from seeing opportunities and will determine the decisions you make and the actions you take. Often preventing you from trying, making you take the “safe” route, over what you truly want. Causing you to suffer, feeling like you are missing out on life, and not living up to your potential. Thankfully, through affirmations you can cultivate positive thinking and a strong supportive inner dialogue, allowing you to break free from these mental handcuffs. This is crucial to live your life to its fullest, no matter what your dreams are (Career, Money, Relationships…). You will always end up, where you believe you deserve to be: So let’s break free from these limiting beliefs and negative self talk to unlock your full potential. Basit Rashid is a man on a mission to help as many people actualise their inherent potential. Basit openly shares his life story and the lessons he learned through testing on himself over the last decade whilst battling Crohn’s disease, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Basit openly shares his life story and the lessons he learned through testing on himself over the last decade whilst battling Crohn's disease, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. At its core, Basit’s purpose is to share his mindset where you take full accountability for your life and look within for long-term solutions: This is encapsulated in his one word “Self”.

When not trying to save lives, Basit can be found daydreaming about pizza and Disneyland, reading, planning his next adventure or relaxing with his team. When you approach him be forewarned that if you mention personal development or mindset, you will be talking with him for hours.
