The forgotten child in the very expensive chair | Adam Foote | TEDxBaldwinHighSchool |

Advancements over time have revolutionized the way we communicate, create and live; yet very few changes have occurred in the way we educate our students. The world of education is dictated by high-stakes testing, unions, politicians, charter schools, parents, business leaders, philanthropists and private corporations. The only agreement between all interested parties is that our students deserve better. The time to “fix” education has passed; we must revolutionize the design and expectations of schools. Here is a clear perspective from a traditional classroom teacher with one focus – changing the future of possibilities for every child.
Adam Foote has been a classroom teacher of the past eight years. Following graduation in 2003 from Juniata College Adam worked in the business world for a handful of years. After conducting three years of personally unsatisfying work, he enrolled in Robert Morris University to complete certification program for Social Studies Education. During his time in the Baldwin Whitehall School District, Adam met his wife Cheri with whom they have two amazing little girls Raegan and Madison. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx |
