The Victims of Kentucky Boys Camps are not saying they didn't deserve "just punishment" for the crimes they commited, but the ABUSE and TORTURE they recieved as teenagers was nothing short of cruel and inhumane, at the hands of the Kentucky government staff in charge.
Many times the Camps staff have been in the Courier Journal for the abuse and torturous techniques that were illegal to use, only to be "slapped on the hand" and continued in the same tactics.
Children died at these camps. And the ones that made it out alive will tell you, they were taught to be meaner and more violent then before they went in, thus keeping the jails full.
Because they were forced to keep the appearance of a perfectly run center, they had to put on a front as a protection mode, so they would lessen the chance of being beaten after any visitor from the outside, left the building.
The creator of this page is himself an ex-inmate that was subjected to the brutality of these camps nearly 37 years ago. These horrible practices have been going on for decades and swept under the rug. We plan to change that.
