Lights . . . Camera . . . American Masters! October 25th will also welcome the official broadcast of American Masters’ redesign – featuring the new clapperboard logo, introduction and branding. If you saw Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You in theaters, you may have caught the first glimpse of American Masters Pictures – thenew theatrical imprint, representing documentaries co-produced by the series and executive produced by Michael Kantor.
Two American Masters Pictures documentaries about to make theatrical debuts are Nancy Buirski’s By Sidney Lumet (premieres October 28th at Lincoln Plaza in New York) and Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise by Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn Whack. The documentaries will have their exclusive U.S. broadcast premieres on PBS as part of the American Masters series in 2017. Other films in production under the American Masters Picture banner include Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story directed by Alexandra Dean and Sammy Davis, Jr.: I’ve Gotta Be Me directed by Sam Pollard.
