The Clocks By Agatha Christie Audiobook.
Poirot never stops by any of the crime scenes in the book or interacts with any of the witnesses or suspects. He is asked to provide evidence to support his claim that a crime may be solved just via mental effort. The Pale Horse, Christie's previous book featuring Ariadne Oliver, used a method called partial first-person storytelling, which she had mainly abandoned previously in the Poirot series (1961). There are two intertwined stories: the mystery Poirot solves while the police investigate the scene from his armchair, and a Cold War spy tale recounted from the first person perspective.
Reviews at the time of publishing said that the writing was on par with Christie's, but they also pointed out several flaws, like how the murder of a character just as they were about to provide important details was deemed "corny," "unworthy" of the author, and "not as zestful." In contrast, Barnard's assessment from 1990 described Christie's work as a "lively, well-narrated, exceedingly unlikely late specimen." He felt strangely sad that the clocks were red herrings because he had loved them at first.

The Countess brings with her an aura of European sophistication and a hint of perceived scandal, having left her husband and claimed her independence. Her worldliness, disregard for society’s rules, and air of unapproachability attract the sensitive Newland, despite his enthusiasm about a marriage to May and the societal advantages it would bring. Almost against their will, Newland and Ellen develop a passionate bond, and a classic love triangle takes shape as the three young people find themselves drawn into a poignant and bitter conflict between love and duty.

Hercule Poirot, a private investigator, boards a train with a second-class seat because the first class is full. Samuel Ratchett, an American businessman who has received death threats, is one of the passengers he meets on the train and requests to hire Poirot.

Poirot is disgusted by him and thus refuses. A few days later, Poirot is informed that Ratchett has been found dead and that the murderer is still aboard the train as no one has been able to leave due to the snow. Poirot is instructed to solve the mystery as there are no police on board.

Due to its connection to the kidnapping and murder of a child in the United States, a clue left behind provides Poirot with a motive for the crime. Poirot is not the only person who is aware that Ratchett is not who he claimed to be. Poirot investigates the murder on the Orient Express using the hints left behind and random events.
