It’s so cool to see rooks absolutely crashing it! Yeah, the Dunk Contest was lame, although Obi was the one who really prepared and rightfully took the prize home. Congratulations! The Rising Stars mini-tournament was fun to watch, and now we have got a new Rookie of the Year ladder. The Cleveland Cavaliers' Evan Mobley sits in first place, leading this year’s rookies in the most stats, a Toronto Raptor, Scottie Barnes, has taken the second place, while Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder has climbed to the third. The Pistons’ Cunningham and Orlando’s Wagner are sitting in the fourth and fifth places, respectively, making this year’s Rookie of the Year competition truly competitive and unpredictable. However, not all the rooks are diamonds coming straight from college. Some of them are set to bloom later, and while the future awaits, I would like to discuss one such talent today.

This year, the Golden State Warriors have managed to make the most of what they have, resigning their biggest superstar, Stephen Curry, not trading assets like Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green away, making smart signings, and making draft selections of young talents like Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga.

That means that the Golden State Warriors not only have a solid roster currently but also an incredible future due to those draftees.

Those are the biggest reasons why Jonathan Kuminga might be the next Warriors superstar.
1) The combination of size, athleticism, and finishing ability at such a young age. Kuminga’s physical abilities are truly incredible and many have given him the “Walking Highlight Reel” moniker. Like the Warriors’ coach said.
2) Mentality. Jonathan stated as soon as he was drafted that he wants to help the team win the championship. He is unconcerned about stardom or the Rookie of the Year award. He is hungry for the championship with the Golden State Warriors right away, and he wants to be in the Hall of Fame. Kuminga is a team-oriented player. That is truly amazing and the Dubs certainly need this type of player who can hype up the entire roster like Gary Payton II. He is a humble guy with a big goal who lets his actions speak for themselves. Kuminga has a long list of professional objectives. And, when Kuminga annihilates every rim in sight.
“With the hard work I put in every day,” Kuminga says, “I know what I can do.”
3) Shooting. While NBA analysts believe that Kuminga’s shooting is a concern. If it takes a long time to fix his jumper, that is not a big deal because his current offensive skillset can compensate. In a different light, if he can improve his jumper, he will follow in the footsteps of LeBron James rather than Giannis. But there is no need to rush because both are great in their own right and the Golden State Warriors already have amazing shooters on their roster at the moment like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
4) Playmaking. Fortunately, he is capable of more than just driving and shooting.
5) Energy. Just like rookie’s mentality, his aggression and confidence are already outstanding.
6) Defense. Jonathan Kuminga’s defense is surprisingly decent, but there is still a lot of space for improvement.
7) He has more than just career aspirations. Kuminga's presence on Rising Stars is a significant milestone in his NBA career.
"It's really big, especially for everybody back home," Kuminga said Wednesday about representing his land.
Jonathan Kuminga’s NBA career is far more than basketball, it’s about pride and his family.
