Concern is growing over a class of chemicals known as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) detected in drinking water across the United States. Trace amounts of several of the most-researched PFAS have been linked to harmful health effects. The American Association for the Advancement of Science’s Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues (EPI Center) hosts workshops to help local leaders better understand the emerging evidence on PFAS.
