Web Panel: EU-Turkey Statement | Reassessment of the Migration Agreement |

SETA Brussels ASBL is organizing a web panel entitled “EU-Turkey Statement: Reassessment of the Migration Agreement” on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 11.00 CET (13.00 IST) which aims to raise awareness for the current migration issue that affects both states and individuals alike.
During the online event, the March 18, 2016 EU-Turkey Statement will be discussed in terms of feasibility and from a societal perspective. The positive and negative aspects of the EU-Turkey Statement will be addressed with Talha Köse, coordinator of SETA Brussels ASBL,as a moderator and with the participation of speakers Gerald Knaus, the founding chairman of the European Stability Initiative (ESI) and known architect of the EU-Turkey Statement; Zeliha Eliaçık, a researcher at SETA Brussels ASBL; and Ammar Kahf, the executive director of the Omran Center for Strategic Studies and a member of the Syrian Forum. The speakers will shed light and assess the process, challenges, and implementation of the statement from its beginning to today. The panel will commence with opening speeches by the General Coordinator of SETA Burhanettin Duran and the Founding Chairman of the European Stability Initiative (ESI) and the architect of the EU-Turkey Statement Gerald Knaus. Presidential Spokesperson of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Amb. İbrahim Kalın will deliver the keynote speech. |
