How do we take advantage of the strengths of both traditional instruction and online learning using the right tools for the right situation? Learn how Lawrence Public Schools is investigating ways to alter the learning environment and custom-design instruction based on student needs, increasing our number of blended classrooms from 8 to 150 - undoing the factory model of education.
Angelique Kobler leads a team of education administrators for Lawrence Public Schools. As the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, she partners with dynamic educators who are leading the way in innovative classroom practices. She shares her passion for disrupting the status quo via social media. Diana Bailey was awarded as the 2014 Elementary Educator of the Year for Lawrence Public Schools, Diana Bailey is in her 11th year of teaching fifth grade. She continues to strategically weave content with 21st century technologies while she engages her students in relevant, personalized learning. She welcomes observers to her classroom as they discover the magic that parents and students alike claim has students arriving to school early, engaging in learning beyond the school walls and 5 day week. Danira Fernandez-Flores is in her 19th year in education. Her background is in Spanish and Mathematics education. Having led Free state High schools department of mathematics, as department chair, for the last 8 years, she has transitioned into a district wide leadership position for mathematics. As a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for Mathematics 6-12, her goals include successful implementation of KCCRS across Lawrence Public School math classrooms and assisting teachers in leveraging 21st century technologies to increase student engagement and learning. |
