At least 23 people are missing after a boat capsized at Kona Punda, along Madogo-Garissa flooded road in Garissa County.
Officer commanding Madogo Police Station, James Tendet, says 22 people have been rescued and taken to Bura-Tana Hospital in Madogo in Tana River County while a search operation by the Kenya Red Cross is ongoing. According to reports, the search operation could be hampered as nightfall sets in. The capsized boat was assisting people to cross from areas that were cut off due to the ongoing heavy rains, that have washed away major section of The Nairobi-Garissa highway.
