Alex is a senior at Pioneer High School, where she plays trumpet and field hockey. She enjoys math and science, and volunteers in a lab at the University of Michigan's Department of Pharmacology. She is also socially active, having founded a nonprofit organization, Harmony Works, to bring music to underserved communities. Alex grew up in Ann Arbor and spent a year living in Berlin, Germany. She is interested in exploring how different cultures deal with diversity and choose to remember their past.
