The Case for Urgent Climate Action |
|
In this webinar Professor Tim Flannery and Dr Sophie Lewis will discuss the Paris climate targets in the context of the latest scientific modelling and assessment. They will discuss the likely physical, social and economic impacts, and reflect on the increasingly urgent calls for strong collective action. Blending climate science, social science and communications perspectives, this webinar will explain why the next decade of climate action matters and what is at stake if we fail to seize the opportunities presented.
This was the first of MSSI’s Climate Change series 'Towards 2030: Climate Action for the Crucial Decade Ahead'. The webinar series focuses on the actions needed to meet the global climate goals by 2030. At this time of turbulence the focus is necessarily on immediate COVID-19 nonetheless the medium-term process of climate goal setting continues on. The world’s nations will meet at the international climate negotiations in Glasgow in November 2021 to evaluate all countries’ climate commitments. It is important to analyse the actions required during this crucial decade. |
