He Could Perform At a High Level of Intensity For Several Hours. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Is Widely Credited In Introducing Qawwali Music To International Audiences. In Japan, He Was Also Remembered As The "Singing Buddha". Khan Was Born In a Punjabi Muslim Family in Faisalabad in 1948. His Forefathers Migrated From Basti Sheikh Jalandhar At The Time Of Partition Of Sub-Continent. The Tradition of Qawwali in His Family Had Passed Down Through Successive Generations for Almost 600 Years. He Is The Uncle of Famous Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. After The Death of His Father, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Came Under The Supervision Of His Uncle Mubarak Ali Khan. In 1971, After The Death of His Uncle Mubarak Ali Khan,Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Became The Official Leader of The Family Qawwali Party. Khan Sang Mainly in Urdu And Punjabi and Occasionally in Persian,Hindi And Braj Bhasha. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Performed at The World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) Festival in London. He Also Performed in Paris in 1985 and 1988. He First Visited Japan in 1987, at The Invitation of The Japan Foundation. He Also Performed at the 5th Asian Traditional Performing Art Festival in Japan. He Performed at Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York in 1989 And Earned Admiration From The American Audience. His Album Intoxicated Spirit Was Nominated For a Grammy award in 1997 for Best Traditional Folk Album. Same year His Album Night Song Was Also Nominated For a Grammy Award For Best World Music Album. Khan Contributed Songs to Many Pakistani And Indian Films. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Was Taken Ill With kidney And Liver Failure on 11 August 1997 in London, While on The Way to Los Angeles to Receive a Kidney Transplant. He Died of a Sudden cardiac Arrest at Cromwell Hospital, London on 16 August 1997 At The Age Of 48 Years. His Body was Repatriated to Faisalabad And Buried In Badda Graveyard Jhang Road Faisalabad (Lyallpur), Punjab. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Is Considered to Be The Most Important Qawwal in History.
