Real Madrid train ahead of Champions League opener against Shakhtar |
|
The Real Madrid squad trained ahead of their UEFA Champions League Group B opener against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, but were without captain Sergio Ramos who looks set to be sidelined.
Ramos is nursing a left knee injury after he took a knock on Saturday in the 1-0 home loss to Cadiz in La Liga. Coach Zinedine Zidane still can't count on Eden Hazard because of a lingering muscle injury - the forward has yet to make his season debut for Madrid. Shakhtar are in Spain without several players who are not fully fit after going into isolation because of positive COVID-19 test results and several players did not make the trip. Madrid and Shakhtar are joined by Borussia Moenchengladbach and Inter Milan in their group, and the 13-time champions will want to go one step further than last season's round of 16 stage when they were eliminated by Manchester City.
