Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) asserted their dominance with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Montpellier in Ligue 1. The reigning champions showcased their attacking prowess at the Parc des Princes, moving to the top of the league table temporarily.
Montpellier threatened early when Teji Savanier's shot was denied by a brilliant recovery challenge from Nordi Mukiele. Nevertheless, PSG seized control as Lee Kang-in capitalized on Kylian Mbappe's dummy to score from the edge of the box, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. Ousmane Dembele forced a near-post save, and Mbappe narrowly missed with a fierce volley from a corner. In the second half, Achraf Hakimi's shot was parried into danger by Benjamin Lecomte, but PSG couldn't convert the opportunity. PSG extended their lead with Warren Zaire-Emery's goal following a neat exchange with Dembele. Substitutes Vitinha then added a third, finishing off Hakimi's cross. Dembele was a standout performer, terrorizing Montpellier's defense with his pace and trickery, contributing to all three goals. PSG's defense held strong, with Hakimi delivering an outstanding performance and Lee Kang-in impressing in midfield. PSG's Luis Enrique ensured that his team dominated possession while maintaining an entertaining style of play. Ousmane Dembele was rightfully named the Player of the Match for his influential performance. PSG now tops the table, but their hold on the position remains uncertain as they await the outcome of OGC Nice's clash with Rennes. |
