The Children's Bible Message - Jesus is the Gate and the Good Shepherd Part 2 |

We all need DIRECTION, PROTECTION & CORRECTION
For the past few weeks, we have been learning about the seven I AM statements Jesus made, which are recorded in the book of John. Each time Jesus says “I AM,” we are reminded that he is God and each I AM statement tells us a little more about who Jesus is. So far, we have learned that he is the Bread of Life, and fills up all our spiritual needs. At Easter we learned that Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. We have learned that Jesus is the Light of the World, and he lights up our spiritual darkness. Last week we learned that Jesus is the gate and we can ONLY enter heaven by faith in Jesus and have eternal life. Today we are will learn that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who provides us with direction, protection and correction. This new I AM statement is recorded in John 10:11-16. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our congregation, our community and our world made new by the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. English Standard Version (ESV) The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. ESV® Text Edition: 2016.
