In the video, "Wisdom of the Elders: Watercolor Mandalas at CBHCC 2012," senior residents of Cherry Brook Health Care Center (CT, USA) express their thoughts, feelings and creative ideas by painting watercolor mandalas. Workshop facilitator, Donna Gentile, explains how years ago our elders were respected, but in modern society they are often overlooked and mistreated. Gentile's "Wisdom of the Elders" expressive arts programs aim to give senior citizens a forum to tell their stories and impart wisdom to a culture that has forgotten the importance of their gifts. Gentile hopes that this work will empower our elders and strengthen our communities.
