|
When you watch an audition, you watch a warrior battling self-doubt - one of life’s greatest demons.
From building up the courage to take a leap of faith, to giving a graceful bow of accomplishment, Performer, dancer and writer Arati Sunawala recites her love letter to the performing arts through her scrupulous and stimulating talk. As the Founder and Director of Tarantismo Creative Dance Company, Arati has conceptualized and choreographed 9 original dance dramas with themes ranging from the empowerment of women to challenging the role of belief systems in the 21st century. Intensely passionate about sharing her love for the performing arts, Arati has taught thousands of students both nationally and internationally. She was invited to Italy to teach at ProDanza Italia and her work has been showcased at the Asia Global Belly Dance Festival in Singapore. Arati has directed 14 stage musicals both for children and adults. Her rendition of Girish Karnard’s Naga-Mandala won her the Best Director, Best Production and Best Play awards at the Thespo Theatre Festival in Mumbai. Arati firmly believes that stories bind our species together and that the arts are an essential stimuli for survival. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx |
