Interference with Child Custody & Parental Child Abduction |
![]() |
Child custody interference happens when a parent (or someone) withholds, interferes, or prevents another parent from being able to access their children and exercise their parenting time accordingly to the court orders. It happens often.
People sometimes underestimate the seriousness of this issue because they don't realize that 99% of child abduction cases are parental abductions or interference with child custody. Many children are taken away from their safe, loving, fit, and available parents for decades, sometimes never to be found again. These children and parents are broken and scarred for life. Many people (parents, law enforcement, lawyers, social workers, school teachers, and the public) don't realize that interference with child custody is a criminal offense. That's right: it's a criminal matter, not civil. It's essential that parents, law enforcement, and others are aware of the issues and the decisive actions required to prevent or stop these criminal acts and save the children. This is an event where we discussed many aspects of this issue. We had a legislator, a law enforcement officer, a private detective, various advocates and parents who shared their cases and lessons learned, and specific actions that you can take to tackle the problem. |
