#FMJSummit: What's it like to work in conservation and collections care? |

This session will explore what it's like to work in museum conservation and collections care roles and discuss what skills and experiences are needed to excel at this work and ways for emerging professionals to get onto these career paths. We will discuss the highs and the lows working in these areas, and end with a Q&A session, inviting questions from session participants.
Panellists: - Lorraine Finch ACR, freelance accredited conservator, Lorraine is an accredited conservator working with archives and specialising in the conservation and preservation of film, sound and photography. - Julie Bon ACR, Head of Collections Care, National Library of Scotland - Gwen Thomas, Collections Care Officer, Museums & Galleries Edinburgh. Collections Care Conservator with over 15 yearsβ experience working in local authority, national and charitable institutions. (she/her/hers) - Raene Poisson, Object Conservator, Raene is an emerging object conservator in Canada - her work experience includes museums across the country such the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa, Ontario and currently the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin in Williams Lake, British Columbia. (she/her) - Jenny Mathiasson, Freelance conservator, heritage consultant, and podcaster based in Wales. Host and producer of The C Word: The Conservators' Podcast.
