As the three-month mark of the war between Israel and Hamas passes, PBS News Weekly takes a look at where the conflict now stands.
The United States and Britain launched strikes late Thursday against Houthi targets in Yemen. The strikes are in response to numerous attacks against shipping vessels in the Red Sea in recent months– something that President Biden said the U.S .will not tolerate. This all comes after Secretary of State Antony Blinken spent the week on a tour of the Middle East trying to a stave off a broader conflict. In Israel, he pressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to work towards a two state solution. He also met with President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. This, as civilian in Gaza continue to suffer, and South Africa brought a case to the International Court of Justice, alleging that Israel’s military campaign against Gaza is considered genocide.
