First: Don’t tell people you’ll do anything to get the job. All they will hear is that they’re going to have to train you to do everything. Always lead with your relevant skill set.

Second: Network aggressively. Sounds simple but your biggest advantage is that most people will not do this.

Third: Make sure you can speak to the process of buying a business. The basic skill set is the absolute prerequisite to land the job. Study it closely, your competition learned this on the job.

Since I have been running ASM I have seen plenty of people pull this off. It’s a challenge. But it can be done. Good luck.
