In a fascinating blog post and video, Google's Deep Mind team shows off a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) chain of thought model for Google's robot, a subset of a Vision Language Model (VLM) which allows it to interact with very natural, very vague human language! Using Palm-E, which is a ChatGPT competitor, Deep Mind's bot understands natural language and then uses chain of thought to tokenize actions itself--just like Dr. Scott Walter predicted a few weeks ago! Scott (@GoingBallistic5) and I spend an hour geeking out about what this means for Deep Mind, but also what it could mean for the Tesla AI team that might be using something similar for Optimus the Teslabot and version 12 of their FSD Beta software!
