PPGNY Sexual and Reproductive Justice Timeline |
|
This comprehensive timeline, built on research and data from Western States and Advocates for Youth, details critical historical moments in sexual and reproductive justice from 1492 to the present day. Contextualizing the long history of reproductive injustice and coercion is necessary to build towards liberated futures for people of color today, and building communities where each person can exercise the right to have a child, not have a child, and parent the children they do have in safe and healthy communities.
While viewing the timeline, we invite you to reflect on the following questions: 1. What new information did you learn from viewing the timeline? 2. What connections can you make between moments in the past and more current events described on the timeline? 3. What additional moments in history do you think should be added to timeline? 4. Where in today’s society do you see similarities between moments shared on the timeline?
