कांग्रेस ने ऐलान किया कि गांधी-नेहरू परिवार की परंपरागत सीट रायबरेली से राहुल गांधी चुनाव लड़ेंगे. इस सीट से अब तक सोनिया गांधी चुनाव लड़ती आई हैं. राहुल अमेठी से चुनाव लड़ते थे. लेकिन इस बार पार्टी ने अमेठी से किशोरी लाल शर्मा पर भरोसा जताया है. कांग्रेस ने दोनों टिकट के ऐलान में देरी के पीछे यही तर्क दिया है कि पार्टी नेतृत्व ने विचार-विमर्श के बाद फैसला लिया है.

Congress announced that Rahul Gandhi will contest elections from Rae Bareli, the traditional seat of the Gandhi-Nehru family. Sonia Gandhi has been contesting elections from this seat till now. Rahul used to contest elections from Amethi. But this time the party has expressed confidence in Kishori Lal Sharma from Amethi. The logic given by Congress behind the delay in announcing both the tickets is that the party leadership has taken the decision after deliberations.
